Basel, Johannes Walder, March 1534

Editio princeps of Proclus‘ commentaries, second edition of Plato in Greek.

Folio (322 x 210 mm).

Plato: 18 2-66 α-ω, Α-Ω ΑαΑ-ΗηΗ6 ΘθΘ, ΙιΙ8: (38) leaves, 690 pp., 1 blank leaf.

Proklos: Α-Ω ΑΑ-ΛΛ6 ΜΜ8: (1) leaf, 433 pp.

Title-page doubled and dusty, first 8 and last 3 leaves with watermargin at upper outer corner, a number of leaves with very faint toning of the type area and minor foxing. 18th century calf, spine gilt; rubbing and scratches to the binding.

Provenance: Ex-libris „Ex Bibliotheca Minoris Seminarii Verrierensis“. Bibliographical notes on fly-leaf, 18th c.

Θαργηλιών is the penultimate month of the attic year. Some say it starts on 16 May, others on 18 May, others at the end of April, etc. I think that Johannes Walder used it simply for May 13.
