Ἀπομνημονευμάτων πρῶτον. — Florentiae M.D.LI. (Colophon: Florentiae apud Iuntas. M. D. L. I.)

Florence, Giunta, 1551

First edition by Pietro Vettori
8vo. A-N8 O2: 208, (4) p. Title-page and conjugate leaves A3/A6 with old repair and loss of text. Contemporary vellum.

Xenophon followed by a curious copy of Gregorius Nazianzenus, Definitiones rerum simplices [Ὅροι παχυμερεῖς]: Graece nunc primum ex Augustana bibliotheca editi a Davide Hoeschelio, cum eiusdem Hoeschelij notis, & Latinia versione Ioannis Leunclavii. — Heidelberg, H. Commelinus, 1591.
This is the editio princeps, including the ed. princ. of Maximus Confessor, Ὅροι διάφοροι on pages 40-43. Instead of 46 pages, the copy has 32 only, all pages with the Latin text, including the title-page, are cut out.

Provenance: Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun- see P. Willems, Bibliotheca Fletcheriana: or, the extraordinary library of … Wassenaar 1999, p. 232 (Xenophon), p. 99 (Gregorius Nazianzenus), p. 146 (Maximus Confessor). Both items are marked „very rare“ by Willems.
On upper fly-leaf in a contemporary hand: Εὐσεβέων παίδεσσι τὰ λώια, which is Theocritus 26 (Λῆναι ἤ Βάκχαι), verse 32, and which continues: δυσσεβέων δ᾽ οὔ; a few phrases in Latin below this.

Hoffmann III 587 (Xenophon), II 178 (Gregorius N.), II 584 (Max. Conf.); VD16 ZV 26114 (Gregorius N.); Edit16 55401; Dibdin: II 575 „A very rare and valuabe edition.“
