Folio (288 x 194 mm). a4 b-p6: 170 ( = 174) pp., (1) leaf. Leaves i1 and i2 stick together at the very lower inner margin.

Binding: Blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards: clasps gone; the initials CG dated 1553 on upper cover; new spine, late 16th or early 17th century, with title in manuscript; new endleaves. The book has been taken out of its covers and re-settled in them. Maybe the boards are the orginal ones, maybe be they are taken from any book. One of the rols shows a hunting scene (see photo), a second is a Charitas-Spes-Fides-Iustitia role. The first has „R“ as signature: see Haebler, Rollen- u. Plattenstempel, I 360.

The splendid illustration of the book by Ambrosius Holbein and others is treated in extenso by Frank Hieronymus, Oberrheinische Buchillustration 2, Basel 1984, pp. 246-249.  – VD16 M 1681. Not in Adams. (The first Greek edition was published by Henri Estienne in 1557 – together with Pazzi’s translation.)
