¶ Lawrence Humphrey (1527? – 1590) taught in Oxford. In 1553 left England for Switzerland, lived and studied in Basle and Zurich, where he lodged in the house of the printer Christoph Froschauer. In 1558 left for Geneva, returned to Basle in 1559 and to England after the death of Queen Mary. The translation of Philo’s text from Greek into Latin at the end of the book was done by Humphrey.
