8vo (151 x 100 mm). a-i8 k10 α-η8 H-L8 [signatures of η5-8=G5-8]: 263 [163], 175 pp. Title-page dusty and with a tiny piece of paper torn off of the blank margin. Leaf f6 also with a small paper loss in the blank margin. Waterstaining at the beginning and end of the book. Contemporary limp vellum.

First edition in both Greek and Latin, and first edition of Xylander’s (1532-1576) commentary.

The book starts with the translation into Latin (pp. 17-117), followed by Xylander’s Annotationes (pp. 118-163); pp. 1-103 have the original Greek, pp. 104-152 Xylander’s large Carmen on philosophy and its parts, followed by Xylander’s poems in Greek and Latin on Hieronymus Wolf’s edition of Zonara; the book ends with Xylander’s hexameters  pp. 162-173 on the death of his teacher Betuleius, which are dated July 1554. The work is dedicated to Ulrich Fugger.
