Binding - Florus, L. A.

Hist. Rom. libri IV — Leyden 1655

Binding – Florus, Lucius Aenneas. Hist. Rom. libri IV. Cum notis intergris Cl. Salmasii, additus etiam L. Ampelius ex eiusdem bibliotheca. — Leyden, ex officina Elzeviriana [Jean & Daniel Elsevier], 1655. [sold]

8vo. (8) leaves, 331, (68), 45 pp. Faint waterstaining, mostly marginal, to first and last quires. Light wear to corners and foot of spine.

Provenance: A donation by Claude Tisserand de Chalange, Prior of the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Pierre of Chalon-sur-Saone (Burgundy), to the College of that city. The BL database of book-bindings has three more examples and gives some literature. Maybe a prize binding. – Willems, Les Elzevier, no. 760.
