Editio princeps

4to (210 x 156 mm, type area: 153 x 98). 18 α-ρ8 σ4 τ8 υ8 : (8), 155 leaves. Without blank υ8, but including blanks σ8 and υ7. A few leaves printed without pagination. α1r printed in red and black. On title-page two abrased stamps. Tear to lower outer corner of leaf 27. Contemporary marginal annotations in Greek and Latin. Modern Ex-libris on paste-down. Damp-staining and toning to a number of quires (see photo of 78v/79r). A copy with ample margins.

Contemporary limp vellum, spine with some restauration, no ties.

Conjugate leaves 3 & 6, 4 & 5 of the first quire are printed on a smaller sheet than the rest of the book, they are not supplied from another copy.

This is the second book of three printed by the brothers Nicolini da Sabio for Gian Matteo Giberti (1495-1543), Bishop of Verona. The first is the 1529 Johannes Chrysostomus, the last the 1532 Oecumenius. All are offered here.
